Bangladesh PM Resigns

Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on Monday, following intense protests and deadly clashes that resulted in nearly 100 deaths on Sunday. Army chief Gen. Waker-Uz-Zaman announced an interim government would be formed. The protests, which began in June over a controversial job quota system, evolved into widespread opposition to Hasina's rule, with at least 300 people killed in recent weeks. The resignation came after a nationwide curfew and internet blackout were imposed. Protesters jubilantly took to the streets, while international observers expressed concern over the violence. Hasina's departure marks a significant shift for Bangladesh, ending her long tenure as the country's leader. The unrest highlights ongoing political tensions and the desire for change among many Bangladeshis, particularly young people and students.
